Old Harlow & Newhall PCSO Chrisie GoodmanSeptember already and a new school year begins! Some bad news fi rst; on 7th August at around 10pm Mark Hall School was broken into. There was a lot of damage to windows and doors and damage to property. This was sheer vandalism as nothing was stolen. Travellers moved on to the fi eld opposite Mark Hall School but were quickly issued with a Section 61 Direction to leave within 24 hours by Neighbourhood Policing Team Sgt Lewis Basford. This means they must not re enter as a trespasser within 3 months or will be liable to arrest without warrant and to prosecution. I would like to make you aware of recent thefts of lead in the area. There has been an increase in the theft of lead from roofs of industrial premises and schools and churches. If you see anything suspicious please report this as soon as possible. On a lighter note I attended the Surestart “Picnic in the Park” held at Burnt Mill School and also the Kidz Klub fun day held at Fawbert and Barnard School on 21st August. The paddling pool at Norman Booth has again been very popular this summer and it has been good to see parents with their children playing safely and having fun. Surgery Dates: Contact Details: Harlow Common PCSO’s Rebecca Durrant & Jason HardyAgain we are receiving an increase in calls regarding motorbike nuisance on both Harlow and Latton Common, so I’ve decided to reiterate some key factors regarding illegal motorcycling that the Police and Harlow Council are trying to combat. Below are some important factors you should think about before riding your motorcycle: Power to Seize: Under the Police Reform Act, the Police now have new powers to seize motor vehicles that are being used to cause alarm, distress, or annoyance to members of the public. Repeat offenders are warned that they may have their motor vehicles taken from them and disposed of and you will have to pay the cost of recovery. Parents are warned that they may be liable to pay a minimum of £105.00 recover y costs of any motorcycle seized from their child. Public Places: You could commit the offence of criminal damage or be sued in the county court for the value of the damage. For example, a school playing fi eld maybe damaged because of ruts left behind by motorcycles. If the rider has damaged it, they could be arrested and have to pay for the damage to be repaired if the owners sue you. If a motorcycle is ridden on land such as parks, footpaths and fi elds, without permission, the rider commits a second offence of riding on land other than a road. Noise nuisance offences are applicable when riding on such land. Private Land: Without the landowner’s permission, you can commit the offence of driving a motor vehicle on land other than a road. Again noise nuisance offences are applicable when riding on private land. Surgery Date: Contact Details:
