hc1Carols by Candlelight – Sat 17 December Words by Mick Rumens

Our final concert of 2011 on Saturday 17th December at 7pm, will be another attempt to stage the Carol concert which we had prepared for presentation in Thaxted church last year. You may recall that the sudden arrival of very heavy winter weather, led to the abandonment of that concert. We are hoping for better luck this year.

hc2This concert is being staged in association with Thaxted Festival Foundation and will be a joyous celebration of the Christmas season for all the family. Together with some special Chorus and Academy pieces, one involving a surprise element, there will be plenty of familiar carols for the audience to sing along with. Harlow Chorus, together with members of our Academy, will be accompanied by a Brass Quintet & Percussion with Susan Graham Smith on piano and organ. Our conductor, Alex Chaplin, will also be showing off his keyboard skills, duetting with Sue in a selection from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcacker Suite.

Harlow Chorus Academy now meets on Monday evenings, 7.00 – 8.30pm at Harlowbury Primary School, Watlington Road, Old Harlow CM17 0DX. This new, larger, venue means that there is now no waiting list to join and there is plenty of free parking. It is open to anyone 18 or over who wants to learn the skills needed to sing in a choir or refresh previously learned skills. No audition is required and members have a lot of fun during the sessions.

On behalf of Harlow Chorus and the Academy I extend very best wishes to CM17 Connection staff and readers/supporters for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
